Counting the days - Only ONE WEEK until showtime!

Our fall semester starts on Saturday, September 22 & Sunday, September 23, and classes are filling fast! We’re excited to offer an expanded number of courses this year, with some new special workshops and learning opportunities. Check out our new Clowning and Improvisation Workshop, Ages 9-12 and our Improvisation Workshop, Ages 11 – 14. We’ve also added a Senior Page to Stage, Ages 13 – 16– it’s a great course for young actors who want to delve into working with scripts. For older students with more experience, we’ve created Shakespeare in Play –– a fun semester of playing with The Bard. And of course, all of our Acting Skills courses offer students a chance to explore all of the skills in an “Actor’s Toolbox.”

(Remember, you get a 15% discount if you register for more than one class. Just ask us!)

Trinity certificates arrived over the summer. If your child took an exam last May, please ask at the desk for their certificate. If you are thinking of registering for the program this year, come and check out the gorgeous certificates that successful students receive.

If you missed our summer newsletter you might not have heard that Associate Director Jennifer Cecil gave birth to a baby girl, Julie Simone Cecil, on June 13. Jenn is back teaching on Saturday mornings, so you might have a chance to meet the newest member of the OCT family then!

Drama classes are full of activity, so please don't forget to send your child with a reusable water bottle each week. We would also like to encourage that all snacks be litter-free. These efforts will greatly reduce the amount of trash we create each week. Thanks in advance!

What's New at OCT This Fall

OCT Welcomes New Instructor Emily Poulsen

OCT would like to welcome new Instructor Emily Poulsen! Many of you may be familiar with Emily from her work with our Acting Up class last year. A talented performer, gifted teacher and creative thinker, we are thrilled to have Emily join our teaching team in September!

It's a Baby Girl for Associate Director Jenn Cecil

Associate Director Jennifer Cecil and her husband are thrilled to announce the birth of their first child, Julie Simone! Baby Julie arrived in June, and parents and baby are doing well and spending the summer together as a family. Jenn returns to OCT in September to resume her duties both as Associate Director of the school and Instructor. Register your child to work with Jenn in either Little Creators or Acting Skills this Fall!

Same Space, New Owner

As some of you may have heard, Dominion Chalmers United Church is now owned by Carleton University. Carleton is planning some exciting renovations for the space, and we look forward to working with them as these changes take shape.
